# Akema

> Inspect Kafka messages and query a live window of events

Akema gives developers a read-only view into Apache Kafka topics. Connect it to your brokers, choose a topic and starting point, and inspect message bodies alongside keys, headers, offsets, and timestamps. Rules written in CEL can highlight or collect matching events, helping you find a particular payload without writing a temporary consumer. The current message window can also be explored with SQL and charts through DuckDB in the browser.

Akema runs as a Linux binary or Docker container, keeping broker credentials on its server process. It uses its own consumer group and does not commit offsets or write messages back to Kafka. CSV and JSON replay are free, while live Kafka inspection is available through a trial and paid licenses.
