# Backplanes

> Review agent activity and apply explicit controls to tool use

Backplanes gives organizations visibility into the tools, MCP servers, skills, plugins, and destinations their AI agents use. It observes activity and proposes controls based on that history, allowing teams to review a policy in monitoring mode before enforcing it. Rules can warn or block when an action meets a configured condition.

Each decision records what happened, why it was allowed or stopped, and which policy revision applied. Organization reports combine session-level evidence with summaries of resources that need review. Examples include restricting unapproved tools, flagging unverified plugin builds, or blocking destructive commands. The developer installation supports macOS, Linux, and WSL 2, with team accounts connecting individual sessions to the organization's oversight workflow.
