# Boring Notch

> Add music controls, calendar access, and a file shelf to your Mac’s notch

Boring Notch is a free, open-source Mac utility that turns the screen's notch area into an expandable control panel. Hovering over it reveals music playback controls and a visualizer, with integrations for calendars and reminders. A file shelf provides a temporary place to hold items and share them through AirDrop.

The app also offers a camera mirror, charging indicators, gesture controls, and replacements for system volume, brightness, and keyboard-backlight displays. Users can adjust the notch's sizing to suit their screen. Boring Notch is useful for keeping frequently used controls close at hand while working in other applications on macOS.
