# Clave

> Keep time-based authentication codes in a desktop app

Clave is a free, open-source desktop authenticator for time-based one-time passwords. Users add accounts by entering their details manually or importing a QR-code image. The application then keeps authentication profiles together and provides quick access to the codes from the system tray.

A PIN adds a layer of protection around access to those codes, with Touch ID available on supported Macs. Import and export features help users back up their profiles or restore them on another installation. Stable installers are available for macOS and Windows. Clave is intended for people who prefer a lightweight desktop companion when signing into services that require an additional authentication code.
