# FlightGear

> A free flight simulator with global scenery, aircraft and multiplayer flying

FlightGear is an open-source flight simulator for Windows, Mac, Linux, and other supported platforms. It provides a desktop environment for simulated flying and a framework that can be extended for custom projects. Users can explore aircraft operation, while developers can inspect and modify the code behind the simulation.

The project is intended for uses ranging from ordinary home flight simulation to research, education, and engineering. Its extensible design also supports people building their own simulator setups or experimenting with new simulation ideas. A volunteer community develops the software, making it possible to use the existing simulator or contribute changes to the wider framework.
