# FreeCAD

> Design parametric 3D objects and produce drawings with an open-source CAD application.

FreeCAD is an open-source parametric modeler for physical objects. Users create constrained sketches, build them into geometry, and revise the design through its parameters and history. Changes to the underlying sketch or model can therefore become part of the ongoing design process.

Drawing tools extract dimensions and details for technical documentation. Common exchange formats such as STEP, STL, DXF, and IFC connect the model with other applications, while workbenches extend the environment into architecture, simulation, or machining. The desktop application runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. A designer can model a part, revise its dimensions, and prepare the resulting geometry or drawings for the next stage.
