# JustScribe

JustScribe is a free Mac dictation app that inserts spoken words into the current text field. Users hold a shortcut to record, then release it to transcribe and paste the result. Downloaded Parakeet or Whisper models handle speech recognition on the device, with settings for microphones, vocabulary, and recording behavior.

The app also transcribes audio and video files, records longer sessions, and saves transcripts with optional timestamps and speaker labels. Grammar correction can run locally or use an explicitly selected hosted provider. JustScribe requires Apple silicon and macOS 26.2 or later; model downloads are needed before offline transcription is available.
