# Layers

> Chat, share locations, and make plans with close contacts

Layers combines messaging and everyday coordination for families and close friends. People can talk privately or in groups, share live locations, arrange events in a shared calendar, and keep track of tasks together. Built-in translation helps contacts communicate when they use different languages.

Connections use mutual contact verification: both people must have each other's phone number saved before connecting. The service describes its chat messages as end-to-end encrypted and offers its core features without advertising. Available on iOS and Android, Layers gives a trusted circle one place to organize an outing, coordinate a trip, share reminders, or stay in touch during daily routines.
