# Lisen

> Read articles and PDFs aloud with your Cartesia voices

Lisen is a Chrome extension that reads articles and PDFs aloud using a user's Cartesia account. After entering an API key, the reader opens a small player on the page and chooses a voice and playback speed. Spoken words and passages are highlighted so it is easy to move between listening and reading.

Audio can stream immediately or be generated in advance for a measured duration and a seekable track. The extension also supports downloading an article as a WAV file with timing information. It has no separate Lisen subscription or account; speech usage is billed through Cartesia. The key stays in local extension storage, and page text is sent for speech generation when playback begins.
