# Open Inspector

> Inspect page styles and design systems with temporary tab access

Open Inspector is a browser extension for examining a webpage's styles, colors, typography, layout, assets, and markup. Users invoke it on a tab, select an element, and navigate the element tree with keyboard shortcuts. Editable values support temporary experiments, with changes listed for review and reverted when the inspector closes.

The extension uses access granted by the user's action on the active tab rather than requesting persistent access to every website. Export options include design tokens, CSS, Tailwind-related output, and a Markdown handoff for coding tools. Open Inspector is free and MIT-licensed, with support for Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc.
