# Portero

> Inspect listening ports and their processes on macOS

Portero is a free, open-source Mac utility for inspecting listening network ports and the processes behind them. Its live list includes TCP and UDP ports, process identifiers, addresses, and related details, with plain-language descriptions for recognized development servers, databases, and system services. HTTP services can be opened directly in a browser.

Users can stop a process after confirmation, protect important processes with favorites, and configure port-blocking rules through macOS firewall tools. The app also highlights potential port conflicts, helping developers investigate an occupied address before restarting a service. It supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs and currently distributes an unsigned build. Firewall changes request administrator authorization through the standard macOS prompt.
