# Readr

> Read your books with margin questions, annotations, and local narration

Readr is a free, open-source reader for DRM-free EPUB, PDF, and Markdown files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Readers can ask questions in the margin and follow citations into the book, highlight passages, add notes, and turn those annotations into an editable article exported as Markdown.

AI features use a provider chosen by the reader, including supported sign-ins, API keys, or a local Ollama model on Mac. A separate narration feature runs on the device and can resume from the reading position, with voice, speed, and sleep controls. No Readr account is required, and the Mac build needs Apple Silicon. External AI processing depends on the selected provider.
