# statusbar

> Keep live information visible beneath your terminal session

statusbar adds a persistent information area at the bottom of a terminal while leaving the shell, scrollback, and full-screen programs available. It can display details that would otherwise be repeated in each prompt, such as the working directory or Git state, alongside live information from configurable modules.

After installation, running statusbar opens the usual shell inside a session with the bar attached. A bundled theme picker changes its appearance, and temporary lines can show the progress of a build or another background command. The open-source tool supports macOS and Linux, includes Starship integration, and provides configuration options for layouts, clocks, disk usage, and other information sources.
