# Tauri

> Build desktop and mobile apps with a web interface and Rust

Tauri lets developers build desktop and mobile applications with a web frontend and a Rust backend. An existing interface can run in the operating system’s webview, which helps keep the installer small. Rust commands connect that interface to local files, application state, or other system features. Developers can start with their preferred frontend framework and decide which commands each window may call.

A team building a note editor, for example, could reuse its web interface, handle file access in Rust, and add a native file picker through a plugin. Tauri provides tooling to package the application for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
