# Zotero

> Collect, organize, and cite research sources

Zotero keeps the sources for a research project in an organized reference library. Its browser tools recognize articles, books, and other material and save the bibliographic information. You can arrange items into collections, add tags, and create saved searches, with notes and annotations stored beside the references.

Citations and bibliographies can be generated directly in Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs. Optional synchronization connects libraries across devices and the web. Group libraries let collaborators share sources for a project or reading list, while the desktop app maintains a local collection. Researchers can move from finding a source to reading, annotating, and citing it through the same library.
