Amazon EC2

Configurable cloud servers for applications and compute workloads

Website

Meet Amazon EC2

Amazon EC2 provides configurable cloud servers for running websites, application backends, development environments, and compute-intensive workloads. Users launch instances from machine images, choose CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources, and manage them through the AWS console, command-line tools, or APIs. Teams can select Linux or Windows environments and use security groups to control network access without buying physical servers.

EC2 works with services such as Elastic Block Store for persistent storage, CloudWatch for monitoring, and EC2 Auto Scaling to adjust instance capacity. On-Demand pricing supports flexible usage, while Savings Plans and Spot Instances offer other purchasing options for different workload needs. Costs depend on instance configuration, region, operating system, storage, and data transfer, making workload sizing and ongoing usage monitoring useful parts of deployment.
