Interactive notebooks for code, data, and explanation

Project Jupyter develops open-source tools for interactive computing. A notebook puts executable code beside explanations, equations, visualizations, and other output, so the document holds an analysis and the steps that produced it. Language kernels support environments including Python, R, and Julia.
JupyterLab provides a flexible workspace for notebooks, code, and data. Jupyter Notebook offers a document-centered interface, while JupyterHub runs shared multi-user environments for classrooms or organizations.
Publishing tools let people view notebooks, and Voilà turns them into standalone web applications. A researcher can explore data, explain the work in the same file, and share the result through the notebook's open format.
