Lichess is an online chess service for playing games and studying positions. Choose a quick pairing, set up a game with a friend, or play against the computer, with time controls from bullet through classical and correspondence play for a slower pace. Puzzles, learning material, tournaments, and live games give you other ways to spend time on chess between matches. A board editor lets you arrange a position for study and can import one from an image. The service is free, open source, and without advertising, with mobile apps available for playing and learning away from a desktop.
