Lyft connects passengers with drivers through an app-based ride request. A passenger enters a destination, examines nearby ride options, and requests pickup. The app provides driver and journey information, with different vehicle categories available according to the location and current service.

Scheduled rides offer a way to arrange a future pickup where supported. The same booking flow covers everyday journeys such as a commute or a trip to the airport. A passenger reviews the fare and pickup details for the selected option, then follows the ride information in the app. Drivers use a separate workflow to accept and carry out trips.
