Penpot is an open-source design workspace where a team can develop interfaces and explain how they should behave. Create screens, assemble reusable components, and connect designs into prototypes for review. Its layout tools use CSS Grid and Flexbox concepts, giving designers and developers familiar structures to discuss when the interface moves toward implementation.

Design tokens keep choices such as colors and spacing available across a design system. Libraries and collaboration tools let people build on shared work rather than recreate each element. Teams can use Penpot's hosted service or self-host it when the workspace needs to run within their own infrastructure.
