Meet Pixelfed

Pixelfed is a photo and video sharing service organized around independent servers. You can join an existing community or run a server with its own rules and limits. Posts appear in chronological feeds, with albums, filters, comments, direct messages, and temporary stories providing different ways to share.

Visibility and interaction controls let you decide how particular posts and conversations are handled. ActivityPub connects Pixelfed with compatible services such as Mastodon, so following and commenting can cross server boundaries. Mobile apps let you use it while taking pictures, and the open-source project gives communities a way to operate their own photo-sharing space.
