Meet Prequel

Prequel is a screen recorder and editor for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. It records a display, window, or selected area, with camera, microphone, and system audio on separate tracks. After recording, it creates an editable presentation with zooms based on clicks and typing, a camera layout, and a background.

Users can move or remove zooms, trim clips, change layouts during a video, and edit automatically generated captions through a transcript. A voice-following teleprompter helps with scripted presentations. Recordings remain on local storage, and export options include MP4 output and different aspect ratios for tutorials, product demonstrations, and social clips. Resolution and performance depend on the Mac and chosen recording settings.
