A command-line coding agent designed for local models

Reika is a command-line coding agent designed to work with both local and hosted models. Its workflow pays particular attention to smaller local models, where long context windows, repeated tool calls, and weak error recovery can make development frustrating. Developers install the CLI, connect a model server, and run it inside a project.
The agent summarizes older tool output, detects repeated loops, and tracks progress from actions that actually occurred. Different modes support planning, structured implementation and review, lean conversations, or general chat. It also checks selected edits and asks before dangerous commands. Reika is open source, with published findings explaining the limitations and tradeoffs behind its behavior.
