Meet Scrivener

Scrivener organizes long writing projects into sections that can move as the draft develops. Keep chapters, notes, and research in the same project, and open an image, interview, or document beside the writing. Sections can be drafted out of order and placed in the manuscript later.

The corkboard and outline provide different views of the structure. Rearrange a chapter through those views without cutting and pasting its text. When the work is ready, assemble and export the manuscript. Books, theses, and other long projects can retain their supporting material while the writer changes the order and develops individual passages.
