Open-source real-time strategy set in the ancient world
An open-source strategy game built around settlements and their economies.

Widelands is an open-source real-time strategy game in which players lead a clan and develop a settlement. Members produce resources that support further growth, connecting the expanding settlement with the economy behind it. Playable tutorials introduce the game before the single-player campaigns explore the tribes and their stories.
Multiplayer over the internet or a local network allows cooperation or competition, and AI opponents provide another challenge. The game runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, with community maps and scenarios extending the available play. A player can build through a campaign or join others to develop rival or cooperating settlements.
