Meet Cai

Cai is a free, open-source action launcher for macOS. Users select text or an image, press a keyboard shortcut, and choose an action such as summarizing, translating, extracting text, running a script, or creating a task in a connected service. Results can be copied, inserted into the current app, or passed to another destination.

Actions can be chained into reusable workflows that combine AI, scripts, shortcuts, and web requests. Compatible agents can propose new actions through MCP, with a reviewable approval step before they become available. Cai includes a local model and supports other local or optional cloud providers. It also provides clipboard history, pinned actions, and Keychain storage for named secrets.
