Meet HanCam

HanCam helps iPhone and iPad users read Chinese text by showing the characters, pinyin with tone marks, and a translation together. Point the camera at a menu, sign, or book, or import an existing photo or screenshot. You can freeze the view, adjust the reading area, and copy or share the recognized text.

Recognition and translation run on the device, with a language pack downloaded for offline use. Both Simplified and Traditional Chinese are supported. The app is useful for learners who want to pronounce what they see as well as understand it. Reading is available free, with a daily copying allowance and a one-time upgrade for unrestricted copying and sharing.
