Meet Heretic

Heretic supplies browser and connection checks for teams investigating automated or suspicious activity. It compares information reported by a browser with measurements such as connection timing, transport behavior, and device signals, then returns findings when those observations conflict. A live demonstration on the homepage explains the timing-based approach.

Developers add a client script and retrieve a verdict on their server. Their own rules decide whether to allow an action, log it, block it, or request an additional challenge. An optional phone-based flow uses motion and device authentication as further checks. Documentation, a developer sandbox, and pricing are publicly available. The service gives applications evidence to incorporate into their existing account, signup, and transaction controls.
