Bitcoin infrastructure for asynchronous off-chain payments

Meet Nubit

Nubit develops Bitcoin infrastructure centered on Thunderbolt, an open-source protocol for transferring bitcoin ownership off-chain. It lets a sender pass control of a Bitcoin output to another person without recording every transfer on the blockchain. Recipients can complete their part later, making asynchronous payments possible without both parties being online together. The protocol combines cryptographic signing with a committee that coordinates ownership changes, while allowing the current owner to settle back on Bitcoin.

For developers and infrastructure operators, Nubit provides protocol research, source code, and tools for running Thunderbolt services. Its stable release includes Bitcoin Core integration, participant services, and command-line tooling, giving teams a foundation for experimenting with Bitcoin payment applications and operating their own deployments.
