OpenResearch

Turn coding agents into research assistants that run experiments

Website

Meet OpenResearch

OpenResearch is an open-source desktop workspace that helps researchers use coding agents for literature reviews, hypothesis development, and experiments. It connects with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode, giving agents access to scientific papers through alphaXiv, bioRxiv, and PubMed. Researchers can work alongside an agent or let it explore a question through repeated experiments.

Experiments can run on a local machine or connected remote compute, while a local database keeps track of results. The workspace brings conversations, code, logs, and research artifacts together so users can inspect what happened and build on earlier findings. A desktop app and command-line interface provide access to the same research workflow. It is useful for researchers who want to test ideas systematically while keeping their project files and experimental history on their own machine.
