Dictate into Mac apps and transcribe audio files with locally running Whisper models.

TongueType is a Mac dictation app that runs Whisper speech recognition locally on Apple Silicon. A user holds a configurable hotkey, speaks, and releases the key to insert text at the current cursor position. An optional double-tap mode supports longer recordings without holding the key throughout.
The app also transcribes imported audio and video files, including WAV, MP3, MP4, and MOV. Postprocessing rules can remove non-speech annotations or turn spoken cues into punctuation and new lines. A compact overlay shows recording status, with controls for its location and appearance. Preferences can synchronize through iCloud, while speech processing remains on the Mac.
