Umbra

Give Gmail a quieter local browser interface

Meet Umbra

Umbra changes the Gmail interface to make routine email less distracting. It groups incoming mail into a few check-in moments during the day and brings newsletters together on one page, helping users separate reading from the rest of their inbox. Optional AI features are part of the local experience, with processing designed to stay on the computer. The project is free and open source and can be installed through a Chrome extension or as a userscript in a compatible browser. It suits people who want a calmer way to use their existing Gmail account without moving to another email provider.
