Meet Awnsy
Awnsy is a menu-bar translator for macOS that works with selected text and text visible on the screen. A keyboard shortcut opens a translation, while a selection box can capture words inside a photo, PDF, video, or application that does not allow copying. On-device text recognition handles that screen reading step.
The app includes a local translation model for offline use and supports optional OpenAI or Anthropic API keys. Users can switch the target language or model from the translation window. Keys are stored in the Mac's Keychain. The app is available for Apple silicon Macs, with a free download and a paid option for unlimited screen translation.
