Cimanote combines a note editor with a knowledge engine that connects information across a growing collection of notes. Users write formatted text, checklists, code, tables, and drawings, then organize the material with notebooks, tags, colors, and pinned items. Full-text search helps retrieve individual entries, while background synthesis builds related topic pages with citations back to the original notes.

The knowledge engine can highlight gaps and conflicting information for review, making the collection easier to develop over time. Cimanote also supports collaboration, offline editing with later synchronization, web clipping, and imports from Evernote. Markdown and HTML exports provide ways to reuse the writing outside the app, with additional capabilities depending on the plan.
