Meet Jan

Jan is an open-source desktop interface for conversations with AI models. You can run a supported model on your own computer or connect a cloud model provider, choosing both the model and where the request is processed. The chat workspace keeps those options accessible through the same application. A local model uses your computer's resources, while a connected cloud service runs the request through its provider. That distinction matters when you want to experiment with local models but also use online assistants. Jan gives those different choices a common place for everyday questions and conversations.
