Read and share open-access scholarly research
Explore and analyze the world’s connected research

OpenAlex is an open catalog of scholarly research that connects publications, authors, institutions, journals, publishers, funders, and topics. Researchers can search for papers and other research outputs, then narrow the results by publication year, work type, institution, or open-access status. Citation links and related records help readers trace how research connects, while filters show the distribution of results across years, countries, and other dimensions.
The website supports sorting and CSV exports for literature discovery and research analysis without writing code. Developers and analysts can use the API to retrieve records, combine filters, and aggregate results, or download a database snapshot for larger projects. The openly reusable data supports applications such as mapping research fields, examining institutional output, and building scholarly discovery tools, with richer analysis possible through the advanced query builder.
