Meet OpenMetadata
OpenMetadata builds a shared catalog of the information surrounding an organization's data. Connectors gather schemas and metadata from systems such as databases, dashboards and pipelines, while teams add owners, descriptions, classifications and glossary terms. Lineage shows relationships between assets, and quality information adds context when deciding whether a dataset fits a task.
The metadata graph also records changes, decisions and feedback, keeping business definitions connected to technical structure. APIs, an AI SDK and an MCP server make that context available to engineering tools and assistants. Teams can run the open-source platform themselves and use the catalog as a common reference for finding and documenting data.
