OpenScreen

Record and edit screen demos with local capture and automatic zooms

Website

Meet OpenScreen

OpenScreen is a free, open-source screen recorder and editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It captures a window or display, adds zooms based on clicks, and lets users adjust cursor appearance, framing, backgrounds, timing, and camera movement. Webcam layouts support picture-in-picture and other arrangements, with local background effects.

The editor includes trimming, speed changes, blur regions, and transcript-based cuts. Local speech recognition produces editable captions after the required model download, while exports are rendered on the user's computer as MP4 or GIF files. Optional AI editing and caption translation require a separately supplied provider key. OpenScreen is a community-maintained continuation of the earlier project, with platform-specific capture requirements and no account needed for its core recording workflow.
