Dictate across apps and turn conversations into notes with local AI options

Meet OpenWhispr

OpenWhispr is an open-source voice assistant for dictation, meeting notes, and audio transcription. It lets people speak into text fields across their apps, clean up dictated wording, and capture meeting notes without adding a recording bot to the call. A custom dictionary helps handle names and specialist terms that ordinary transcription may miss.

Users can run supported speech models on their own device for offline dictation or choose cloud processing and their own API keys. These modes have different data flows, so local processing is a deliberate choice. The product supports multiple languages and offers apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS.
