Let Apple Music make room when your AI assistant speaks

Oreja de Van Gogh is a Mac menu-bar utility that adjusts Apple Music while an AI assistant speaks. It watches the selected application’s audio level and either pauses music or lowers it to a volume you choose. When the conversation becomes quiet, playback returns to its previous position and volume. Adjustable timing helps prevent music from restarting between short replies.
The app measures audio levels without recording or transcribing speech, and it works offline without an account. You can choose pause or lower-volume behavior in its settings, and manual playback changes take priority. Oreja is free and open source, with support for the ChatGPT desktop app on macOS 14.2 or later.
