Dictate into Mac applications with local voice transcription and optional AI tools.
Dictate into Mac applications with local speech recognition and a keyboard shortcut.

Yap is a free Mac dictation app that turns speech into text inside the application you are already using. Press a keyboard shortcut to start speaking, press it again to stop, and the transcript is pasted into the active field. The shortcut can use a key combination or a single modifier, making the same workflow available in a browser, terminal, or messaging app.
Transcription runs on the Mac through Apple's Speech framework, with no account or API key required. A searchable local history keeps earlier transcripts available to copy again. Once the relevant macOS speech model is installed, dictation also works offline.
