Capsomnia

Use a keyboard switch to keep your Mac awake

Meet Capsomnia

Capsomnia turns Caps Lock into a physical switch for preventing a Mac from sleeping. With sleep prevention enabled, long-running local tasks can continue when a MacBook's lid closes. The keyboard light provides a visible indication of the state, making it useful for builds, downloads, agent sessions, and remote work when networking remains available.

Users can choose a different shortcut if Caps Lock already serves another purpose. An automatic-off timer releases sleep prevention and puts the Mac to sleep after a selected duration. The app requires macOS 14 or later, runs locally without an account, and publishes its source under the MIT license. Its helper changes system sleep settings, which users can inspect in the project's source and documentation.
