Meet nixmac

nixmac helps manage a Mac through a reproducible Nix configuration. Users can start from a template, import an existing flake, or inspect current customizations before turning selected settings into code. Natural-language requests guide an AI agent that edits configuration files and works through the build process.

The app exposes build output and line-level diffs, records applied changes in Git, and provides history for restoring earlier configurations. Drift detection helps reconcile manual changes with the saved setup. It builds on tools including nix-darwin, nixpkgs, Home Manager, and Homebrew. Model options include hosted inference, the user's own provider credentials, and local Ollama models. Applying configurations changes the system, with review and build steps forming part of the workflow.
