Meet Contral

Contral adds explanations and learning activities to an AI-assisted coding workflow. Its extension can observe changes made by supported coding agents and explain what the code does, why a choice was made, and how edits relate across files. Users can also select code for a walkthrough and ask follow-up questions inside the editor.

The product includes its own coding agent and desktop IDE, with planning and implementation modes that keep file changes and commands subject to review. A separate learning mode provides a structured Java curriculum with challenges, projects, and checkpoints. Developers can use it to connect work on a real codebase with deliberate practice in understanding the underlying concepts.
