Meet Linty

Linty is a free, open-source dictation app for Mac. Place the cursor where you want text, hold the assigned keyboard shortcut, speak, and release the key to insert the transcription into the current application. A hands-free option lets people keep dictating without holding the shortcut throughout. After its initial setup, transcription can run locally, making the same workflow available when an internet connection is absent. It works across everyday writing tasks such as email replies, notes, and text in an editor. A history view helps users look back at their dictation activity without moving their writing into a separate workspace.
