Preview rendered Markdown, diagrams, and metadata in Finder

showmd is a free, open-source Markdown viewer and Quick Look extension for macOS. After enabling the extension, users can select a supported file in Finder and press Space to see a rendered preview. It is designed for reading documents, project notes, and AI configuration files without opening an editor.
The viewer supports tables, task lists, highlighted code, mathematical notation, Mermaid diagrams, and local images. YAML frontmatter becomes a collapsible metadata table, while selected XML-style prompt tags appear as labeled blocks. Users can switch between source and rendered views or copy the result as HTML. Rendering works offline, and the app follows the system appearance with optional light and dark overrides.
