Dictate and revise text locally across Mac applications
Turn spoken ideas into structured documents using local speech and language models.

Speech-to-Markdown is an open-source voice writing tool that turns spoken ideas into structured documents. On Mac, a menu-bar app uses whisper.cpp for transcription and connects to a local language model for formatting. Global dictation inserts speech into the current application, while a dedicated editor builds Markdown, plain text, or HTML as the user talks.
Its document modes can reorganize the whole draft, apply a spoken editing instruction, or append new material while preserving earlier text. Users can inspect the raw transcript, restore previous sessions, preview saved files, and read passages aloud. Speech processing and document formatting remain on the user's own device.
